Fashion and Self-Esteem

Fashion and self-esteem is a very crucial topic. Many young women are believing what they see on television and in magazines is beautiful. It is beautiful but only to a certain extent. Wearing less clothes and being extremely thin by your choice is not healthy for your image.

Beauty begins within yourself. If you have big lips, embrace them. Own them. And make them who you are. If you have big thighs, love them, cherish them, make them compliment who you are. Never say you hate the way you look, because you are comparing yourself to models or someone in the spotlight. They are skinny because they have to be. That is part of there job. Television and the camera adds ten pounds to you.

God has created every one of us in a way that is so unique and is so beautiful to Him. If we continue to let the world feed certain images or certain ways into our head, we will never be happy.

We watch television and look at magazines. Majority of the time we are viewing thin, model-sized individuals. Majority of the actresses we see are extremely little. They are so thin, you can blow them away, just by exhaling. Guys this is truly unhealthy. I believe that actresses shrivel up because it brings them more money. The thinner you are, the more money you make. Nicole Richie (at top) have stated in earlier interviews that she eat three times a day. But look at this picture. Do she really eat three times a day? Is it just a piece of celery that she has three times a day? Take a look at this Brazilian model that died of anorexia.

In 2007, this Brazilian model was found dead due to her anorexia. She was trying to stay thin because designers prefer models that are thin to walk down the runways. Their designs look better walking down the runway. Look at this photo below. Is this what it takes to become a high-fashion model?

Many young women are trying to be thin, because of low self-esteem and listening to what the world is telling them what's beautiful. We can turn on the television to a music channel, such as BET or MTV and see half-dressed, big booty, big breasted women dancing around cars, men, in the pools, etc. Young ladies will began to feel that being half-dressed is beautiful. "More men will see me as being attractive", some will say. Wrong! No man wants a woman that is half-dressed. If he does, he won't respect you in some way because he will think you have low self-esteem.

All of these ladies are featured in hip hip videos. One photo features Ice-T's wife, CoCo. He has been with her for so many years, but he enjoys the eyes starring at his wife and she is more than comfortable with it.

Video vixens are known for their large behinds and large boobs. This is what make videos very popular among men, especially black men. But do not think this is cute. Some young women will think because they do not have a large behind or large boobs, they are not considered attractive. Wrong! It is part of these women jobs to stay built like so called "brick-houses". This is what pays their bills. This is for entertainment purposes. Don't get it twisted. Don't let T.V. screw your mind up, young ladies.

Honestly ladies, if you are not thin, if you are not half-dressed and if you do not have a large behind, do not think you are not attractive. This is the world playing with your mind. This is not the definition of beauty. Beauty comes from within. If your heart is beautiful, you're beautiful.

There are so many women that have beautiful hearts. But because they have low self-esteem, they want to spice up there image by dressing too revealing or loosing weight to feel attractive.

Attractiveness is something natural. Everyone has it. It just have to be brought out of you in the right way.

So ladies, try to work on building your self-esteem. Take each day at a time and build your character. No one is perfect. Try to watch what comes out of your mouth and how you act towards other people. Always tell yourself that you are beautiful. Always remember that God has made you this way for a reason. God never makes mistakes. He is perfect.
